Thank you for all your prayers for travel, clarity and our kids while we were in Budapest! It is so wonderful to be reunited with our children again. We missed them so much!!
It was a strategic trip for our team full of new experiences with a
new culture. We have lots of stories to tell!
We were on the go during the 5 days we had. We met with many helpful contacts, both Hungarian
and American, to
get a feel for the culture and learn where God is already working
through different ministries and what the needs of the people are. In addition to our meetings, we walked
the streets, talked with people (me, mostly asking where the nearest
'free' bathroom was :), met with a realtor, priced groceries and
furniture, observed the culture, learned some Hungarian, heard what's
important to Hungarians, learned a little Hungarian history and prayed, prayed,
prayed!
The
common thread weaved throughout our conversations, their history, and
still today is a sense of hopelessness and a longing to belong. Sadly,
Hungary has a devastatingly high suicide rate that ranks them up with the highest in the world. It is seen as
honorable to take your own life if you are struggling. That is just one of the many lies of our enemy.
As we continue to learn more about these beautiful people we see the need more and more
for this city of 3.3 million to know Jesus!
Our
time there was essential in the decision-making now at hand. We so thankful we were able to visit and continue to seek God for clarity.
Again, thank you for your prayers and support in the days to come as we seek God. We couldn't do this without you!
Here are some pictures of our time there. Hope you enjoy!
