The Secret

So many things are running through my head and heart lately. They started a series on finances at church - Wow-wee challenging but so great! We started a Parenting class - so close to my heart. Andrew is working now - prayer answered. We just got our acceptance letters for Elevate today - another prayer answered! See what I mean. I will not overwhelm you with everything all at once but here's just a snapshot of my thoughts recently.

"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:12 & 13

Last night as a small group we talked about his verse. I could help but think on how many of us actually have "learned" the secret of being content? Learned implies to some degree that there was a time of learning and it was a process of some sort. Then going through that period of time did we learn from it or just keep moving, unaffected. When I was thinking on this I've come to realize that I have a whole lot of learning to do in this department. Contentment. Am I content with my situation? Am I content with my husband and my kids? Am I content with our finances? Am I content with my wardrobe? Am I content with my appearance? Has God not already provided for all my needs?

1 Timothy 6:6-8 " But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that."

Wow, would I be content with that? I would have to say only with Gods help from verse 13, "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
