Is it time to eat yet? I'm Hungry.

These are the two phrases I've heard a lot lately.  Why?  My middle child is starving a parasite and my oldest is fighting a virus.  The solution...supplements and a new diet.  When I say a new diet I really mean, sugar-free, dairy-free, grain-free which = a new way of life in our house.  We started this journey almost 3 weeks ago and are still going strong.  So what are we eating you may ask?  Mostly veggies, nuts and meats.  Apparently when you eat like this you are hungry ALL THE TIME!!!  Food prep is probably the most difficult and those pesky cravings (which I give into sometimes because I'm not killing a parasite). However, we have seen amazing results with Aaron's health and attention span and Sydney felt better by day three.  So if you have any recipes that are mainly veggies and meat we welcome them because this mama needs all the help she can get!
First time trying Brussels Sprouts and the kids liked them!!

Veggies and Chicken

Lettuce Wraps and Roasted Summer Squash.  They asked for more!!
Which leads us to the second half of our blog...we are planting our first mini garden!  I'm inspired to garden on a budget and grow some of my own produce.  I'm truly a beginner and made several trips to Lowe's to ask all the right questions which no one seemed to be able to answer.  So like anyone would do, I searched the internet.  Success!  There it was, 'gardening on a budget' and yes it's possible (so they say).  So we are going to try, but for now the holes are drilled in the bottom, the soil, compost and peat moss are mixed and the ground is ready for planting!  Now for the fun part.  What can we grow?
Andrew brought this home from work one day...a shipping container.

The kids helped mix

or mostly just Andrew

Fun with the dirt

Watered and ready for planting...stay tuned.
