The kids and I went to library Thanksgiving story-time on Tuesday and Wednesday. They had so much fun watching a puppet show, listening to stories, making crafts and just being with other kids. The pictures are of all the decorations they made.

On Wednesday evening we joined a couple other families at our friends the McCormicks. We kicked off the night eating pizza, playing games (Rook, Catchphrase and Chicken Foot) and just hanging out until the kids got crazy.
On Thanksgiving Day at about 11:00am we headed over to our friends the Montgomery's who hosted this years Thanksgiving feast! Wow, what a spread! It was so much fun to spend that day cooking and preparing for guests with Cristie and Courtney. Cristie's table was amazing - it was the real deal. She had creative centerpieces made from outdoor leaves, bark and sticks along with turkey table settings complete with little handmade corn place-setting cards. Everyone was very impressed (thank you Cristie for all your work)! I'm so sad I don't have any pictures of it:( We ate: deep fried Cajun injected turkey, sweet potato souffle, yams, green bean casserole, blueberry muffins, cranberry relish, dressing, stuffing, broccoli-cheese casserole, fruit salad, chocolate chess pie, pumpkin pie & hot apple cider. I'm quite certain I missed somethings too but that was so much food and so yummy. We ended the night with a walk around the block and more games! I slept amazing!

Now it's time to rest...wait, no. We got up early and took family pictures Courtney you are amazing), went shopping and we just finished setting up our Christmas tree a couple hours ago. We are usually real-tree people however with the cost of a real tree in Texas and the size of our apartment we opted for a goodwill tree:) We are quite proud of our little purchase. Someone else graciously donated a tree so that we could walk in and purchase it yet again. The kids had a great time decorating it. Now that the sugar cookies are made and the tree it up...I think I'm taking the rest of the night off. Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving and now I will end my wishing you all...a Merry Christmas!

Very cute tree! What a buy - and to think, this year you won't have to vacuum up needles. Yay!

Love your tree!!! And I can't believe I missed library time this week! Rats!
ReplyDeleteLove your tree! I just spent the last hour reading through your posts and I am just in awe of you... you are amazing and I'm so thankful to have met you. I didn't want to leave 700 comments, because I figured that would be annoying. :) Just wanted to encourage you today and let you know that I greatly admire you and Andrew and your willingness to just follow Him and trust Him! So inspiring.
ReplyDeleteBusy little crafters! Those Thanksgiving decorations are wonderful! Way to go Sydney & Aaron!!
