Psalm 37: 5 - "Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him and he will act."
One morning I was lead straight to this verse. I knew it was what I needed to hear to continue on this journey and continue to believe for the future of our family. I read it and read it over again and had the thought, why is this so hard to believe?
Have you ever had that thought when reading a verse? It sounds amazing and it's easy to say, "Yes, Amen", but then you find yourself thinking in the back of your head, what if I believe for it and it doesn't happen? Your mind starts flooding with past disappointments or times you've believed for something and it didn't turn out the way you hoped. That was me. I could feel myself hesitating to believe but felt like the Spirit was saying to believe. So in that moment I prayed and asked God the big question, how do I lessen the blow of disappointment? The answer came quickly but cut to my heart, fully surrender.
Psalm 37: 5 - "Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him and he will act."
When I am fully surrendered, committing not some, but ALL my ways to the Lord, and trusting that He knows what He's doing when He acts, I can believe that He's acting on my behalf.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.' Romans 8:28
It will not always be the way I planned or the way that I asked Him, but I believe, in a new way, that He is acting on our behalf more than I know or recognize in all my humanness. As I let go, the possibilities are limitless.
