Recovery - My need for Him!

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and prayers while I went through surgery for my knee.  I was a little nervous as I sat on the bed ready to be wheeled away.  I told Andrew 'I love you' probably ten times just in case I didn't wake up :)  It's funny how thinking about something like being medicated to the point of unconsciousness makes you think about the end of your life.  It was a good reality check once again of why I want to live my life full out for Jesus.  You might think, it was just a minor knee surgery and yes, you'd be right but God can use anything to draw us closer to Him.  Even a minor knee surgery!

Just before knee surgery
I also realize again my need for community and help!  I'm was totally dependent on Andrew and Allyson (our live-in wonder-woman!) to help with just about everything while I was sleeping, icing, hobbling around and taking pain meds that made me nauseous that first week :(  Another huge blessing was that Grandma Beth flew in to help love on the kids, make meals and anything else that needed to be done.  On top of the surgery Andrew and I were required to be in a week long training as part of our Staff Training.  They were gracious with me and I attended the afternoon sessions.  So during afternoon hours the kids had so much fun with grandma and were so sad when she had to leave the following Saturday. Other friends helped with meals and brought gift cards for dinner which was a huge blessing too!  More than ever I'm assured that God never intended us to walk this life alone.

The days of recovery have been slower than we all expected but I'm finally walking without crutches, just a minor limp.  I am so thankful for being at least at this stage of recovery.  I'm gaining some independence back. I will be starting physical therapy soon and anticipate to be up to full speed in 4 to 5 weeks. We'll see!

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.  Isaiah 43:2
